Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 23-year-old suspected drug dealer, Aliyu Suleman, and recovered 64 bottles of Methylene Chloride, locally known as ‘Suck and Die’, alongside 17 pieces of rubber solution.

Suleman, a resident of the Tudun Salmanu area of the state, was nabbed by operatives of the Vehicle Crime Response Unit during an intelligence-led operation at Bayan Gari in the Bauchi metropolis on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at about 5 pm.

The Command disclosed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, who noted that the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and safeguard public health.

“The suspect was intercepted during a routine intelligence-led operation. Upon search, the following exhibits were promptly recovered from the suspect: 64 bottles containing Methylene Chloride, locally referred to as ‘Suck and Die’, and 17 pieces of Rubber Solutions,” the statement partly read.

The police spokesperson added that the recovered substances had been seized and registered as exhibits, confirming that the suspect was currently in custody and cooperating with investigators.
“He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.”

Reacting to the development, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling the distribution and abuse of harmful substances across the state.

The CP subsequently directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to intensify surveillance and operations aimed at dismantling networks involved in the sale and abuse of illicit drugs and other harmful substances.

In the statement, the command also called on parents, guardians, and community stakeholders to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies to help curb the menace.

“The fight against drugs and substance abuse requires a collective approach,” the statement noted.
