Popular Nollywood actor Stan Nze has expressed disappointment after several phones were reportedly stolen during the service of songs held in honour of the late Alex Ekubo.

The actor, who served as the master of ceremonies at the event and was a close friend of the deceased, disclosed that more than five phones went missing during the gathering, which was attended by family, friends, and colleagues from the entertainment industry.

His comments came hours after actresses Bam Bam and Susan Peters publicly reported that their phones had been stolen at the event.

Speaking in a video shared on Instagram, Stan Nze described the incident as disturbing, questioning how anyone could take advantage of a solemn occasion meant to celebrate and mourn the life of a departed colleague.

“I hosted my dear friend’s service of songs, and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Yet, during the event, more than five phones were stolen,” he said.

According to him, the situation became so serious that organisers temporarily restricted movement at the venue in an attempt to recover the missing devices.

Reflecting on the incident, the actor argued that many of Nigeria’s challenges stem not only from leadership failures but also from societal attitudes and personal values.

“We often complain about the government, insecurity, and the state of the country, but we also need to look inward. How can people attend a place where others are grieving and still choose to steal from them?” he asked.

Stan Nze lamented what he described as a growing decline in compassion and empathy, urging Nigerians to embrace honesty and kindness in their daily interactions.

He maintained that meaningful change must begin with individuals, stressing that national progress cannot be achieved without personal responsibility and a commitment to doing what is right.

The actor’s remarks have since sparked conversations online, with many social media users condemning the thefts and echoing his call for greater accountability and respect for others, especially during moments of grief.
