The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has approved key appointments into his campaign organization to strengthen preparations for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

The appointments follow the earlier appointment of Chief Yemi Aderibigbe as the Director-General of the Campaign Organisation, reflecting the candidate’s commitment to an inclusive and result-oriented campaign structure.

Alli, who is the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, announced this in a statement issued in Ibadan, the state capital, on Thursday.

The statement said, “Under the new arrangement, Hon Sola Ogunbode was appointed Deputy Director-General to support the Director-General in coordinating campaign activities across the state.”

“Also appointed as Assistant Directors-General are Barrister Lowo Obisesan for Oyo South, Rt Hon Asimiyu Alarape for Oyo Central and Hon Rasaq Raji for Oyo North Senatorial District.”
“The appointments are expected to deepen grassroots mobilisation, enhance coordination across the three senatorial districts and reinforce the campaign’s readiness ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state,” he added.

The lawmaker expressed confidence that the appointees would bring their wealth of political experience, leadership capacity and commitment to achieving victory for the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.

Alli added, “Let me assure all our party men and women that this campaign will be all-inclusive. No one will be left behind. Every ward, every local government, every interest group within our party has a role to play in this project.”
“We are one APC family. The task ahead is huge, but with unity of purpose, we will achieve it together,” Alli said.

Looking at the profiles of the new appointees, Raji is a grassroots politician and chieftain of the APC who hails from Igbeti in Olorunsogo Local Government Area of the state.
Asimiyu, a metallurgical graduate, served as the Speaker of the state House of Assembly between 1999–2003 and Minority Leader between 2019–2023. He was also a Special Adviser during the administration of late former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Obisesan, a lawyer and Ibadan senior chief, was Commissioner for Environment in the administration of late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi and is the founder of Black & White Law Chamber.
